John Pirriccello wanted to get the facts straight as to what happens at the Lakland factory
Here's some information your readers might find useful.

"Just to clear up any confusion about the processes performed at the Lakland Factory, here's a list of what we do day to day, month to month:"

Raw wood selection, cutting, thickness cut/sanded into body and neck blanks
    Bodies are milled and sanded
Neck blanks milled to rough shape, truss rod and graphite are installed, fingerboard blank is thickness sanded and laminated to the blank, prefabricated piece is then milled using various 3D operations to achieve our neck profiles, fingerboard radius and transitions from drawings and tool paths developed in house.
Milled neck has position markers/inlays and side dots installed.
Neck is finish sanded and oiled
Fingerboard is radius finished sanded and leveled
Frets are installed, trimmed, leveled, dressed and polished
    Headstock lacquered and logo applied
Bodies are sealed, sprayed, top coated, scuffed and buffed
Pickups are fabricated, wound, potted/encapsulated in house
    Preamps are wired into harnesses
Pickups and Electronics are installed, including any shielding
Grommets are pressed in, tuners installed
bass is assembled, bridge is placed and secured, strings installed, setup, any final adjustments are made.

This is a big simplification of what we do, but an outline of our in-house processes. While it is true to say that we did rely on more outsourcing before, we progressed to where it was cost effective to bring those processes in house, in the USA. That is what the trib article was about.
I wouldn't want to tell Carl he is not a Luthier after 30 years of custom instruments and thousands of produced Laklands, he might take exception ; )

    Peace my friends!

In the past, a supporting member of the LOG could only be eligible to win a set of D’Addario or Lakland strings once in a 12 month period.

In a step to provide more benefits to our supporting members, we are reducing the time between eligibility from 12 months to 6 months!

    We appreciate your support!
